Pet Shop Boys, Alison Moyet and The Smashing Pumpkins have led the tributes to Depeche Mode keyboardist Andy Fletcher, who died this week aged 60.
Fletcher was a founding member of the British isles digital band who identified achievements with hits together with Personal Jesus.
Synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys described him as “a warm, welcoming and funny human being who cherished digital music…”
Singer Moyet, who grew up on the same Basildon estate as Fletcher, was still left speechless by the information of his loss of life.
She reported: “I have just listened to the news. Considering the fact that we were being 10. Very same estate. Class mates to label mates. He who kept faith with all the old gang and they with him. It will not compute. Fletch. I have no phrases.”
US rock band The Smashing Pumpkins, in an on the internet submit, explained the musician as “famous and inspirational”, expressing they have been “saddened” to hear of his death.
